Obituary

On Friday, August 28, Brandon Richardson passed away peacefully in his sleep. He was born to Patricia Buchmeyer and Gary Richardson on February 10, 1981 in Waco, Texas. He graduated from Wortham High School and then went on to earn his degree as an LVN from Navarro College. Once earning his degree, he relocated to Arkansas to further pursue his nursing career. As a nurse, he spent most of his adult life caring for and helping others heal.

He returned to Wortham after suffering from heart failure in 2014. He spent the remainder of his life caring for his mother.

Brandon’s pride and joy was his son, Gavin. He was incredibly proud to be his father. He loved him more than anything. Although there was distance between them, Brandon’s love and adoration for Gavin never lessened. His goal was to move back to Arkansas to be with him again. Unfortunately, due to his declining health, his wish never came to pass.

Brandon was one of the sweetest and gentlest souls you’d ever meet. He loved deeply and always tried to make you laugh. He loved to play practical jokes and tried to find the humor in everything. No matter what life threw at Brandon, he always had a smile on his face. His kindness was genuine and he had compassionate, generous, and good heart.

He loved to read, write down recipes, go shooting, sing karaoke, and play games. One of his favorite things to do was go to the family cabin. He enjoyed the remote location and the peace and quiet he found there. Brandon lived in the 90s and never left. He was absolutely the definition of a 90s guy. He loved the style, music, and movies. He loved Stephen King books. He liked watching his favorite movies The Lost Boys, The Goonies, Spaceballs, and Total Recall. Brandon’s absolute favorite holiday was Halloween. He would plan elaborate costumes and couldn’t wait to dress up. The family tradition of “NewThanksMas” was also something he looked forward to every year. He could not wait to karaoke his favorite Green Day songs; his #1 request was always “Boulevard of Broken Dreams.”

Brandon was preceded in death by his grandparents W.O. and Bobbie Richardson; grandfather, Dr. Norris Dean Buchmeyer; aunt, Paula Richardson Rogers; uncle, Gary Buchmeyer.

He is survived by his son: Gavin Richardson; mother, Patty Buchmeyer; father and step-mother, Gary Richardson and wife Tina; brother, Sean Richardson and wife Sophia; grandmother, Theresa Buchmeyer; aunt and uncle, Robin Hulsey and husband Jeff; aunt and uncle, Kim Johns and husband George; uncle and aunt, Norris Buchmeyer and wife Cyenthia; niece, Scarlett Richardson; and cousins, Amy Kramer and husband Chris; Jennifer Kocoloski and husband, Matt; Trey Buchmeyer; Adam Buchmeyer; Carlie Buchmeyer; Brian Buchmeyer; Allie Huff and husband Keegan; Bryce Buchmeyer; and many close friends and extended family.

In honor of Brandon, an intimate Celebration of Life Memorial will be held Saturday, September 5, 2020 at 6 PM in Wortham at Kim and George Johns home for family and friends to gather to celebrate the life and cherish the memories of Brandon.

Even though we didnt talk the last few months, Im thankful we stayed in touch. You were always there to talk to and laugh with. Ill never forget annoying you by messing up your med cart and calling you mr creepers. I didnt know you hated it at first, but glad you came to see the humor in it. Thank you for the fun times at work and always putting a smile on my face. I will always hold your memory close and pray for strength for your family. Miss you B

“God himself will be with them. And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things has passed away.” (Revelation 21:3,4)

There are so many beautiful memories of Brandon I will treasure forever. Some of my favorite memories of Brandon is when we would stay up late playing games. I remember how excited he was to bring out his Texas Hold'em set. I didn't know how to play so he taught me. We would play for hours, laughing, talking, and taunting each other. I'll never forget his silly laugh and his infectious smile. He was seriously really good at games and usually won. He would snicker when he knew he was about to win.

Another memory I will always cherish is when we told Brandon we were expecting. He was so excited and immediately said he hoped it was a girl. He said before Sean was born, he wished for a little sister. Sean asked Brandon to help with the gender reveal and he was ecstatic to find out we were, in fact, having a little girl. I remember the day he met his niece, Scarlett, he just exuded happiness and pride to be her uncle.

Brandon was a brother to me and always treated me like family. I'm so grateful to have had him in my life, I'm thankful he was Sean's big brother, and I’m so happy he was Scarlett’s uncle.

I am so sorry for your loss. Brandon was truly a “gentle and sweet soul“, yes, best description ever!!! this young man was taken too early from all who loved and cared for him. I cant help but flash back to his LOVE of magic tricks that he would perform for all his cousins!! May you rest in peace dear gentle one, love aunt Cynthia
