Sylvia Moody Bell, 74 of Wortham, Texas passed away on September 3, 2019 at Autumn Leaves Assisted Living Center in Flower Mound, Texas. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 7, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church Wortham with Reverend Jerry Bontrager and Reverend Justin Colquette officiating. A private interment will be in the Wortham Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 7, 2019 at First Baptist Church Wortham from 1:00 - 2:00 p.m. prior to the service.

Sylvia was born on June 20, 1945 in Mexia, Texas to William Gaskill Moody and Erin Haupt Moody. She was a school teacher for Wortham I.S.D. until her retirement.
She was preceded in death by her parents. Sylvia is survived by her daughter, Julia Erin Bell & husband Alan Cummins of Trophy Club; son, James Bell & wife Katherine of Keller; grandchildren, Aaron Cummins, Reese Cummins, Kennedy Bell and Lincoln Bell and sisters, Sarah Lane of Wortham and Sandra Moody of Austin.
Serving as pallbearers will be Wardlow Lane, Ryan Carr, Jed Donahue, Logan Capers, Todd Jarrell and Chunky Busby.
In 2015 Sylvia became a statistic. Currently 1-in-10 Americans over the age of 65 has Alzheimer’s. In the United States someone develops Alzheimer’s every 65 seconds. Of the top 10 leading causes of deaths in the U.S., Alzheimer’s is the only one that can’t be cured.
