Obituary

Paula Richardson Rogers was born on March 13, 1948 in Fairfield, Texas. She graduated from Wortham High School and then went on to earn her associates in arts degree from Navarro College. Paula married Tom Guest of Mexia and they had one daughter, Amy. They traveled and lived in Texas, Florida, Panama, Maine and finally settled in Virginia where Paula worked for the Comptroller of the Currency in Washington D.C. During this time, she earned her Bachelors with a double major in music and art from The University of Maine Presque Isle. While Paula was fun-loving, she took her studies seriously and always graduated with top honors.

Paula was a wife, mom, homemaker and sunshine spreader, known for her effervescent personality, hearty laughter, and her deep love of music and dance. She had a wonderful gift of song and harmony. She shared that gift often - in school and church, for special events, and with family and friends. She served as lead singer with the band Truck Stop which she joined while living in Panama. Paula returned to the Wortham area and served as organist/pianist for the Central Presbyterian Church of Wortham.

While Paula loved all of the world’s beauty and pageantry, she lived a very simple life. She loved everyone, always saw the good in others and put other’s needs above her own.

On Sunday, January 13, Paula passed away, peacefully, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Even throughout her illness Paula maintained her sweet disposition and love of music which continued to bring her joy.

She is survived by her daughter, Amy Kramer and husband Chris of Virginia; two grandchildren, C.J. and Ashley; a brother, Gary Richardson and wife Tina of Crosby; a sister, Robin Hulsey and husband Jeff of Pflugerville; a sister, Kim Johns and husband George of Wortham; nephews, Brandon Richardson, Sean Richardson and wife Sophia of Wortham, Ryan Hulsey of Colorado; niece, Allie Johns of Denton, and great-nephew and niece Gavin Richardson and Emma Hulsey.

Paula was preceded in death by her parents Bobbie and W.O Richardson of Wortham.

Graveside services will be held at the Tehuacana Cemetery on Thursday, January 17 at 10:00 am. Funeral arrangements by Corley-Porter Funeral Home of Mexia.

To Amy and family, Gary, Robin, Kim and all of your families So sorry for your loss. Paula and I were very close in our high school years. Life took us different directions so I only saw her on rare occasions after that, but my memories of our times together are something I cherish. Loved being at your place and listening to W.O. play the piano. Paula and I would sing and dance. We would get together and laugh so hard that I would be in tears. We shared so much with each other and know the secrets that we told of our teenage lives would never be revealed. It is said that if you have 4-5 true friends in your lifetime that you have been blessed. Paula's friendship made me blessed. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you.
